Support of OEMs is a crucial part of our maintenance support and requires a high degree of interaction between M&E, our clients and our candidates.
M&E continue to provide Stryker Brigade support in Germany and for a period of nine years we provided support and operational maintenance whilst they were at their home base when deployed on operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. Maintenance functions include Reset, Retrofit, battle damage repair, modification and upgrade (including up-armouring) and equipment training support.
Summary of services provided and locations supported:
M&E played a key role in converting a bare hanger into a reset and maintenance facility and a second empty vehicle hanger into a stores and supply facility. M&E subsequently utilized these facilities to perform:
Defence equipment receipt and inspection.
All levels of maintenance to ensure Fully Mission Capable (FMC) status.
Assembly and component repairs/replacements.
Reset and retrofit of equipment.
Application of modifications and upgrades.
User maintenance training and support to pre-deployment training exercises.
Care of supplies in storage (Left behind equipment).
Receiving, inventory and distribution of upgrade kits, stock items, supplies & consumables.
Reporting production progress and ensuring appropriate availability of supplies.
Our contract workers were deployed to forward operating bases (FOB) in Iraq to maintain the brigade’s defence equipment for the duration of their combat mission. Facilities in Iraq were taken over, modified to meet specific client requirements and then operated for 18 months under operational conditions.
Our contractors were deployed to Kuwait where we established temporary facilities, trained locals and fitted and removed the additional exterior slatted armour and under-vehicle up-armour and conducted technical inspections to all of the Stryker variants prior to entry to Iraq and upon exit.
M&E provided Heavy Wheeled Mechanic and Welders to at the Battle Damage Repair Facility in Qatar. The task required a complete rebuild of each vehicle. 502 vehicles (422 battle-damaged, 80 reset).
Deployed personnel to conduct RESET of 1/25 SCR Stryker Brigade and support across all levels of maintenance.
For five years, we supported over 500 US Marine Corps RG31 MRAP vehicles in Kuwait.
Fielding a team of 93 managers, field service representatives, specialists logistics experts, the key elements of our service provision follow were as follows:
Established the Level 3/4 facility in a bare hanger
Installed and commissioned workshop equipment.
Where necessary sourced and procured equipment locally.
Established and proved the operating process.
Conducted the incoming inspection on receipt of the vehicle and produced work order relevant to that specific vehicle to enable the upgrade.
Stripped Vehicle down to the Hull and assemblies.
Removed, inspected and repaired/replaced of all major assemblies and components retained for rebuild.
Inspected and repaired vehicle hulls and chassis (including certified welding).
Applied modification work orders/upgrades process (providing Team Leads).
Painted and reassembled vehicles.
Conducted final Quality Assurance Quality Control.
Provided logistical support (requisitions, receipt, inventory/storage, distribution)
Provided project control.
Maintained individual vehicle records.
Deployed 93 technical specialists to Kuwait via the IRDO Pre-deployment centre in the US with the first deployment of fully processed staff after only 21 days - all roles filled within 5 weeks. All personnel were deployed through the CRC at Camp Atterbury.
Successful development and delivery of a deployment, execution and support plan by a dedicated M&E Project Manager who was deployed one month prior to the commencement of contract start.
The establishment of a fully functional workshop within 2 months of contract commencement.
Delivery of quality and efficiency through the development, testing and proving of the process and procedures by M&E experts and Team leaders with specific expertise of working on heavy military vehicles and defence equipment in similar austere circumstances.
Rapid achievement of high-quality output demonstrated by the delivery of three zero-defect vehicles 4 months after programme start.
Performance targets for quality were regularly beaten and the contract to upgrade 507 vehicles completed ahead of time
The staff at M&E have proven to be not only resourceful but also extremely supportive with work related issues.
In addition to this they also support with private challenges that one might encounter when moving to a different country. Driving is my passion, during my first 6 months working with M&E I was fortunate to progress from Movement Control Driver to Recovery Ops.
